The project to improve the High School football field suffered a minor setback on Monday, April 29 when the Park Ridge Board of Education rejected the three bids they received.
Robert Wright, the board's business administrator, said they are going to advertise for bids again using the same specifications. Bids received by the new deadline will be opened on May 14.
"It was the general consensus that it would benefit us to go out to bid again," Wright said. "The primary reason was pricing. The board wasn't pleased with the initial round of estimates and they expected more people bidding,louis vuitton purses."
The bids rejected ranged from $1,Gucci Outlet.422 million to $1.548 million.
Wright said, "More importantly, by going out to bid a second time, we can negotiate the contract now,celine handbag."
He said the board is hopeful that they will attract better prices and more bidders this time around.
Asked if there were financial incentives in the specifications for completing the work in a timely manner, Wright said, "No, but there are penalties if they don't."
As to the timeline for the project, Wright said,true religion outlet, "The board didn't think the timeline would be dramatically affected," as long as the contract was awarded in May,Tory Burch shoes. As previously reported, the plan is to begin the project on June 21, the day after graduation, and complete it by mid to late September.
The project, which includes the replacement of the current grass playing field with artificial turf, resurfacing the track that surrounds the field, and the installation of lights to allow for night games, was first proposed nearly two years ago. The BOE sought to redirect $1.4 million of unexpended funds from the $10+ million bond referendum approved in 2009,masenv.com, that funded extensive improvements to all three of the district's schools, to finance the field plan. In September of 2011, the referendum to redirect the funds was defeated 578 to 571.
The BOE continued its advocacy of the project and held another referendum in December of 2012. This time, the plan was overwhelmingly approved with 1,http://www.foceng.com/toryburch.html,272 voting in favor and 649 against.
