JAKE Nicholson left South Australia for the Gold Coast two years ago to forge a professional ironman career. His dream looked to be on track when he was in the lead pack late in the final race of the Kellogg s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series trials at Tugun two weeks ago.But as the surf has done so many times before, Nicholson s dreams were turned upside down.A rogue wave brought another five ironmen into contention. Nicholson missed it and a spot in the elite series,Hogan Scarpe. He tied fifth with clubmate Mitch Miller but with only five places available, a countback was conducted and Miller won, jordan pas cher. It was gutting. If all goes well I might get a wildcard but you can t bank on that, he said. I was pretty close, true religion outlet. It really just came down to the last race and I was unlucky with the waves and missed out, lvase. There were four of us leading in the last swim leg and a wave came from behind and five guys caught up. A couple of us couldn t catch it when it was broken.

Mitch Miller just scraped in in front of me. He was leading that race and came seventh,Gucci Online. It showed the surf can throw up a few things. While the 19-year-old s dream of being in the Kellogg s series has been put on hold, he has something else to look forward to.The Coolangatta Gold is there for the taking. With five-time champion Caine Eckstein focusing on triathlons, there is no dominant force in the race this year.Nicholson won the under-19 format last year and can be considered a smoky to take out the big one in 2012. The Gold is something to focus on now. I want to give it a really good go, he said. Caine s not doing it so it s open slather. I m not sure if Ali Day is doing it because he would be a guy that d be up there. It is a fair step up to the big league but Nicholson has already had a taste of the long course,Prada handbags. He completed it in 2009 as a 16-year-old, finishing 23rd and learning what needs to be done to be competitive. I m pretty determined now. Top three would be great and if I got the win, it d be even better, he said. It ll be a lot tougher than the short course. The course is back-to-front this year too so the run leg will be hard, sac longchamp. Related articles:
