Within three months Pomp and Circumstance, the traditional graduation march, will be echoing in the hallways of high schools across the region, indicating that the class of 2013 is ready to begin the next phase of their lives. According to historical data at Otero Junior College, at least half of graduating seniors in the college s service area will go on to college.
To help students and their parents prepare for the financial obligation of college, Otero Junior College provides help and support for families as they complete financial aid applications and search for scholarship opportunities. According to Angela Benfatti, financial aid director at OJC, there are numerous scholarships available at Otero Junior College for incoming high school students, nontraditional first time students, and returning students.
Students who are looking for scholarships can contact my office or go to our website to learn more about the scholarships we have available. Most of the deadlines are coming up within the next six weeks, so now is the time to start making those applications, said Benfatti.
Applications for the following scholarships are currently being accepted:
3.0 GPA Scholarship/Colorado Scholars Program - Scholarships of $1,000 per semester for tuition are available to Colorado residents who have a cumulative high school grade-point average 3.00 or better and enroll full-time at OJC the fall semester after graduating from high school. These scholarships will be renewed for returning OJC sophomore students who have maintained at least a 3,sac longchamp.00 cumulative GPA during their initial year of enrollment. Application deadline is Aug. 1, 2013.
