Trona Joint Unified School District Superintendent Dave Olney talked about the district s strategic plan, which includes facility needs, budget,douuo.com/gucci.html, technology and other issues.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees Thursday, he said the purpose of the plan is to develop a long-term plan to address the instructional, physical and facility needs to educate its students to empower them to be successful in the 21st century.
The initial process is collecting data, and this is going to be ongoing, Olney said.

From those objectives, we have developed essential questions, he said. This is the process we re in right now.
Olney said part of that is considering what the core beliefs are.
Who are we as the Trona community? Are we about education and about our students? he said,Prada handbags. With that we re devising objectives and developing action plans. This is going to be a long process.
Talking about data collection, he said the first thing he did was hold a staff orientation when he became superintendent.
We had all staff teachers, classified employees and management,Gucci Outlet, said Olney. That was in August,Toms Shoes Sale. In September we had a community forum. We had the opportunity to have members of the community talk about some of the pros and cons they saw within the Trona Joint Unified School District.
He said the district also looked at the Standardized Testing and Reporting data and the work done with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges at Trona High School.
This process is really an in-depth process where they analyze all facets of our high-school program, he said. We look at past district goals. The game plan is really a district plan. It s a guideline for any expenditures that we do in the district.
Olney said the schools also have single plans for student achievement.
That is what guides the spending of our categorical funds, he said. We also have a technology plan and our budget,beats headphones. There is a review of all of these.
He said there is formal and informal data that comes from conversations in board meetings and input from public comments.
There s information that I get as I walk into classrooms, and Alan [Tsubota] gets as he walks into classrooms, said Olney.
He said staff, during the orientation, identified certain areas of growth in the district.
Some of the strengths that were voiced dealt with staff concern for students, the teamwork of the staff and leadership, particularly at Trona Elementary School, Olney said. There were a lot of wonderful comments about our elementary-school principal.
He said the greatest barrier identified to growth was communication.
We had 16 members of our community participate in the Sept. 10, 2012 workshop, he said. We identified areas where the district is doing well and areas needing improvement.
Olney said the community likes the Infinite Campus program to track student progress and for the communication that can go back and forth.
He said tutorial and the warm elementary atmosphere were also strong areas.
That is a tribute to the staff and the leadership of Mr. Tsubota, Olney said. In technology, when we took a look at that, while we re doing well, it s also in the area that we have to improve,Gucci Outlet.
Areas needing improvement, he said, are parent involvement, the expertise of tutors in content areas, vocational education to make sure the district is preparing students for the work force, the availability of the school after hours, tracking student work.
That came out of the community forum, he said.
