SPOTLIGHT: The Empire softball team has gone through some major changes this spring but they still managed to go undefeated in their section (19-0) to capture the top seed in the Division III playoffs,Tory Burch outlet.
The Ravens clinched their first-ever sectional championship by defeating Benson 3-1 on the last day of the regular season. Benson (17-1) played the host and their loss dropped them to the fourth seed which means the two teams could meet up again in the semifinals.
Empire led 1-0 after the first inning thanks to a homerun from Kelsey Smith. The Ravens added two more runs in the sixth thanks to some steals from Tazia Hernandez (including home) and an RBI double from Grace Taber that scored Smith from second base,http://www.pilewu.com/tomsshoes.html.
Kourtney Brogan hit a homerun in the bottom of the seventh for Benson but it wasn t enough,deofa.com. Brittany Woolridge (15-1) took the circle for Empire and Kendra Behr (13-2) pitched for Benson.
